The Beautiful Game: our work in the DRC part 4

Using football to build team skills and friendships

Football is a very effective way of bringing people together. It provides fun for children whose lives are otherwise lacking in this. It also teaches teamwork and friendship.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, (DRC), World In Need encourages children of all ages to play. The children enjoy it, and they play even when they have no ball, using a flattened plastic water bottle instead.

A number of balls were provided through our Alternative Christmas Gift campaign, and more balls have been given by the Crowborough Athletic Youth Football Club, who also donated kit and equipment. We cannot thank them enough and hope to have some pictures of the children wearing the strip soon.
