Our school in Kenya, Nancy George Academy, has a great academic record and we are keen that the children have access to science and computing education.

However, due to government policy changes this year, Nancy George Academy is required to have dedicated laboratories rather than using existing classrooms. Without these modifcations made to the school they will be unable to continue teaching the Junior Seconday age students.

Nancy George Academy provdies a wondeful place for children to be educated, please help us to continue this great work for these children.

What and where is the need?

Our school in Soy in western Kenya has over 400 pupils. The new Kenyan CBC curriculum, released at the beginning of the year requires us to have both Science and Computer laboratories. Most of the work has been done, but we help to complete the projects.

Why is this a pressing need now?

We are currently having to take our students to a neighbouring school for their laboratory time.

Why are WIN best placed to tackle this need?

WIN has supported the school since the start and we have partnered well with WIN supporters over the years. We don’t have another source of extra funding besides WIN and NGA primary school fees. The school has managed to subsidise the work from fees collected, but we have not been able to raise the extras amount needed due to the rising costs of building materials.

What will be the benefits of your work?

The children will no longer need to go to the neighbouring school to do their laboratory work. Since we will have the laboratories, we can make use of ours instead of depending on the neighbouring school.

What is the impact if we don’t do this now?

The negative impact will be that there will be no complete laboratory at NGA, this will not only affect the student's education in science and computing, but with challenge the existence of the Junior Secondary part of the school due to the new government mandates.

Why should people care about this?

It's importnat that students are educated in school with appropriate resources, we want our children to be resourced for their future. Proper Science and Computer education is essential.

How do you ensure success and accountability?

Nancy George Academy has a building committee which oversees the budget and construction. It will be supervised by the building committee and the school Director.

How much does it cost?

We need to raise £2000 to complete the two laboratories.
Please help us to finish the building work for our children
