A trusted local partner urgently needs funding to keep a refugee school open for around 40 displaced Afghan children, including girls who have no other access to formal education. A previous donor has unexpectedly withdrawn support. If we don’t step in, the school will close and these children—already traumatised by war—will lose their only safe learning space.
Please note: To protect the safety and privacy of the refugee children, all images used on this page are stock photos.
In April, Hope School in Goma was violently attacked, and several children were injured. The security situation in the region remains extremely fragile. WIN has supported our partner Claudaline in putting security guards in place — but we urgently need to raise funds to keep them there. Without ongoing protection, the school and its students remain at serious risk.
As well as local people wanting to know more about Jesus, there is also a need for support for local families. Therefore the building will be used for the local church and for reaching out to the local community with a focus on families, providing an informal education to children to get them prepared for more formal schooling.
The initial building phase will provide a shelter from the rain, with walls and a roof. Your donation can help to make this a reality.
The Adullum Mission Preparatory School is a successful school, reaching out to the poorer childen in the community, in the Wellington district of Freetown, Sierra Leone. As a result they are running out of space. It is a city suburb school and so the only option is to build up. A couple of years ago Pastor Tamba started to build three more classrooms on the first floor, but the rising costs meant the project had to come to a halt.
When our CEO visited the School last year he saw first hand the great work that Tamba and the team are doing. In addition to the excellent education during term time, the school building is also used in the holidays to run Church conferences for young adults. They learn the importance of godly work ethic, integrity, wisdom and compassion - as they journey through life, relationships and business.
