This is Reverend George head of World in Need Northern Uganda.  He and the team run a number of projects around Lira and this is their latest project to ensure 'Practical Mission' in the local community.

We last met with Reverend George in June 2019 before Covid-19 and he shared his heart for Isaac, a WIN Uganda sponsored child who has grown to be a man, well trained in farming, to share his expertise.

This project is a classic second generation project, run by those who have grown from children to Adult, learnt a skill and are now giving back to the community.

This is an amazing project to be involved with.

Got questions about this farming project in Uganda?

What and where is the need?

The need is in Northern Uganda and is to empower 60 youth with modern farming practices integrated with Bible study and financial management by March 2021.

Why is this a pressing need now?

We are at a unique moment where the youth are waiting for investment and are hoping to start as soon as possible.

Why are WIN best placed to tackle this need?

This project is working directly with our own team in Northern Uganda so we can monitor and train the youth to our standards.

What will be the benefits of your work?

To empower 60 youth with modern farming practices integrated with Bible study and financial management by December 2021. Provide agricultural extension services to the youth in raising nursery bed and planting seeds. Provide extension services in planting Vegetables in four acres of land by March to January 2021

What is the impact if we don’t do this now?

60 youth will not receive farming training which is also integrated with bible study and training in entrepreneurship and business skills

Why should people care about this?

This is an amazing opportunity to disciple 60 youth and to train them to provide for their families and start farming businesses.

How do you ensure success and accountability?

This will be an on-site training, mentorship and coaching on the farming of the selected enterprises, the project management team shall also conduct regular monitoring and supervision of the project implementation.

How much does it cost?

Teachers, learning materials and Bibles £770 - Building materials, insecticides and tools £1640 - Tractor rental, water pipes, other materials - £1160 - Admin ,Labour, feeding £3865 - Transport, monitoring etc £410

The youth are asked to commit to nearly 50% of the cost of attendance and have committed £3509 to the fund meaning we only need to raise £4336
Please help George and the team train 60 youth
