Pastor gives thanks for equipment in the Philippines

Online schooling allows students to continue learning

The Cypress Christian Foundation school is run by WIN Philippines and currently has two teachers and 31 students. WIN Philippines global family leader, Pastor Noel and his team, send thanks for the kind donations of desktop computers, printers and a laptop. The new equipment has made a huge difference to the school, and teachers are now up to date with module printing, and busy expanding the online classes as the increased facilities allow.

Out of the 31 students attending the school, 13 are able to pay the regular school fees and 16 are sponsored through the WIN child sponsorship programme. WIN Philippines is currently waiting for sponsors to come forward for another two of the children attending the school.

Education continues online and at home for the students until lockdown restrictions are eased. For those of the students’ families who can’t afford internet Noel schedules face to face meetings twice weekly, in carefully managed Covid 19-safe conditions. Due to the provision of online teaching the two school teachers, Bevs and Mia, are able to deliver lessons in all subjects from Kindergarten to Year 6, which Noel reports is a huge blessing for the smooth and efficient running of the school.

Noel also ran a full programme of church activities prior to the breakout of Covid 19, but all have been suspended since lockdown. He has now also moved his ministry online as he uses video streaming, zoom groups and Facebook to keep in contact with those he supports.

The Cypress Christian Foundation runs an integrated Bible teaching as part of their curriculum to disciple the young people in their walk with Jesus. Pastor Noel feels called to develop and improve the home schooling, so that post Covid 19 more children can have a safe, healthy place to live, with more opportunities for their future.

Since the start of the outbreak of Covid the school has had its student numbers reduced from 300, and WIN Philippines is in great need of donations to cover the ongoing rental of the premises used for both the school and the church ministry.  WIN is currently running a fundraiser to meet the costs of renting this building from which the school and church are run, as well as covering the salaries of staff and buying supplies.

The students have invested their time and energy in making this school space their own, and WIN is committed to supporting the school, the church, and investing in the future of the children and families in this area. If these funds are not forthcoming then both the school and church is in danger of closing in the future. If you feel led to support the work of the ministry in the Philippines please visit the School Project appeal page.

The team asks for continued prayer for blessing and provision for the school’s work, and for protection as Covid cases continue to spread.
