Last year we appealed for your support to provide beds for the children of the Jesus is The Way school in Northern Uganda. With 520 children in the school, ranging from 3 to 13 years of age, many of whom have to travel between 5 and 10km to attend, a lot of these children were sleeping in dormitories at the school. In fact, a staggering 225 children were sleeping at the school and had only mats or a few mattresses on the floor to sleep on.
With your wonderful support, World in Need has managed to provide the funds for a bed for every child. The new beds are metal bunk beds that allow for mosquito nets to be hung from them, and are supplied with a mattress, meaning that every child that has to sleep at the school has their own bed and a place to keep their belongings.
Providing the children with these beds and lifting them off the dusty floors makes a huge difference to their health, ability to study, and of course, their comfort. Your support has also shown these children how valued they are and given them the dignity of being respected as individuals.
