Plus gifts of stationery for students

We are pleased to report on the wonderful success of the Cypress Christian Foundation School at the Sports District Meet earlier this year. The school was able to join the competition, which was part of the qualifying tiers for the Palarong Pambansa.

The Palarong Pambansa, also known as the National Games in the Philippines, is an annual multi-sport event involving student-athletes from all over the country. This prestigious event, organised by the Department of Education, features both elementary and secondary level competitions. Qualifying for Palarong Pambansa involves several stages of regional and divisional tournaments, which must be navigated successfully by athletes to represent their region in the national event.

The first stage of qualification begins at the grassroots level, where athletes compete in school-based sports competitions within their respective cities or municipalities. These events serve as the foundation for identifying potential talents and nurturing their skills. Next, athletes who excel at the local level proceed to the division or district meets. Here, they compete against participants from neighboring cities or municipalities, and only the best performers in each sport move on to the regional meet. At the regional level, athletes represent their provinces and face off against the best competitors from other nearby provinces. The competition intensifies at this stage, as only the top athletes from each region qualify for the Palarong Pambansa. The most outstanding athletes from the regional meets finally converge at the national stage—the Palarong Pambansa. This multi-sporting event showcases the cream of the crop from all over the Philippines, competing in various sports disciplines, including athletics, swimming, basketball, football, and many others.

Through these qualifying stages, the Palarong Pambansa aims to promote sports excellence and provide a platform for young Filipino athletes to showcase their skills and compete at the national level. The competition fosters camaraderie, sportsmanship, and a sense of pride and unity among the participants, making it a significant and much-anticipated event in the Philippines' sporting calendar.

Cypress Christian Foundation School's fifth grade student, Zayin, qualified for the additional stage City Meet in the field of athletics, competing in the 100m dash, 200m dash and 4x100m relay. Huge congratulations to Zayin and the school for being representatives in this area. Together we give thanks and glory to God for this success! We join with the school in praying for further sucess next year for Zayin to progress to the regional meet, and all the other children in the school who wish to compete.

In addition to this good news, the Cypress Christian Foundation School send love and prayers to our supporters with great thanks for a cash gift they received early this year, allowing them to buy stationery and school supplies for the children to use. There were very grateful and happy children! We can only support these wonderful people through the help and donations of all our supporters so thank you for all your contributions to bring a brighter future to these children.
